Managing a large and diverse print supply base brings many challenges, which when not approached in a controlled manner can damage a client's Brand integrity. JPG led a project on behalf of a national retailer that encompassed more than 1,000 printers, covering every print process with the aim of communicating, setting and reporting on packaging print standards. Large scale forums were set up within our client head offices to communicate expectations and achieve understanding and “buy in” throughout the print supply base, followed by clearly communicated and documented process compliance requirements. A bespoke software solution was implemented to manage vast quantities of data that was then gathered through the assessment of printed packaging provided as part of the agreed process, that enabled a clear picture to be built up around capabilities and performance.
This enabled objective assessment and led to an educated process of assigning approved printer status to those satisfying the pre-agreed criteria as well as JPG providing training and support to those that failed to meet these standards.
